I have been there

As a single mum I was always appreciative of my employment and my dedication to work was inspired by my sense of responsibility towards providing for my two children.

I still remember the day I saw the job I was in, posted on a job board. You see, I was in an acting manager role (what this means is your role is temporary). I thought they were going to promote me, they didn't. 
So, I stood up and asked a senior male leader for the position and salary that I saw myself in and desired, my apprehensiveness was replaced with shock when he gave me exactly what I asked for, and all of this by the age of 35. I learned if you don't ask you won't get.
